Rider Alert - 2016 Summer Youth Ride Free

Youth rides FREE on Morro Bay Transit June 1st through August 31st

Summer is here and for students in SLO County, that means freedom! Not just from the books, however. Local transit operators are welcoming aboard all K-12 youth for FREE. Students simply present their school ID (when they've been issued one) and take any fixed route for FREE. This includes RTA, SLO Transit, South County Transit, Paso Express and Morro Bay. Regular fares apply to the Morro Bay Trolley and Dial-A-Ride Services.

The goal of the annual Youth Ride Free program is to give youth 18 years old and under positive exposure to transit services. Last year, there were over 56,000 youth rides during the summer months. Students are invited to become county explorers on routes that provide safe daily transportation to many beach, wildlife, biking and recreational areas, libraries, historical sites and special events.
Parents will also benefit from Youth Ride Free by saving money on gas and creating less wear and tear on their car. The program increases awareness of other public transit benefits, too, like reducing traffic congestion and contributing to a more sustainable planet and lifestyle. Youth Ride Free is a joint effort of SLO Regional Rideshare and participating SLO County transit operators to encourage a lifetime of healthy commuting habits.
