About Lila Keiser Park
In the early 1970s former Morro Bay City Council Woman, Mrs. Lila H. Keiser (1900-1988) helped secured a land-lease deal with Pacific Gas and Electric for 10 acres of property located near Morro Bay High School. This property was developed into public park land, which included the only baseball/softball field within the City. Approximately 10 years later, the City began re-developing the park to include an additional baseball/softball field. Today, this park is not only used by park visitors, but is also the home of Little League, Coast Girls Softball, Morro Bay Men's Softball and other sports leagues. The Recreation and Parks Department is currently working on securing additional State funding to improve current park amenities.
From Lila Keiser Park, visitors can catch peaks of Morro Rock while enjoying several amenities in addition to the 2 baseball/softball fields. The recently reconditioned fields feature newly installed scoreboards and bleachers. This park is ideal for large and small group gatherings. For larger groups, the parks has a covered picnic area and a large barbecue pit with an adjustable grill that is available for reservation using the Recreation Services Department's Public Area Use Permit (PAUP) process. For small groups, the park has several picnic areas throughout along with a children's play area and horseshoe pits.
