This is a copy of the press release from SLO County issued this afternoon (Monday, March 16, 2020):
The County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department reports today that a third individual in San Luis Obispo County has tested positive for novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This individual is a household member of the second SLO County resident confirmed to have the illness. The individual is recovering in isolation at home and is fully cooperating with the Public Health Department’s investigation.
Following this confirmation and Gov. Newsom’s direction on March 15 regarding protective actions for bars and restaurants, County Administrative Officer and Emergency Services Director Wade Horton has issued an executive order to protect the public’s health by temporarily limiting alcohol sales at onsite alcohol-serving establishments from Monday, March 16, 2020 at 5 p.m. to Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 12:01 p.m.
“We need to take immediate action to slow the spread of the virus over the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday and to limit large gatherings in public serving spaces,” said Horton.
This post will be updated later this afternoon following the County’s press conference that is scheduled for 2:00p.m.
Additional information about the City’s response to CVOID-19 will be posted on the City website this afternoon as well.
